The museum relies on a small army of volunteers that come from all different backgrounds. Students, museum wonks, professionals, retirees, topical experts, and those simply with a thirst for knowledge. We will work to match our needs with your skills, experience, and areas of interest.

Current Open Positions

  • The museum is seeking a personable, detail-oriented, and technology savvy individual to serve as Program Associate/Manager, undertaking responsibilities that focus on the coordination, logistics, and content-building for programs and initiatives. Programs may consist of both live and online events and content including webinars, live and recorded interviews, collaborative meetings and presentations, and educational lectures and conferences. Additionally, this position will support communication, marketing, and development projects as needed.

    The Program Associate/Manager reports to the Executive Vice President and works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and Advisory Boards. This is a full-time position with a unique opportunity to play a creative, visible and significant role in the continuing development of the museum and programs.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    ·      Work with curatorial team to create educational programs for the museum

    ·      Intake for new program concepts, determine feasibility, and acquire internal approvals at all stages

    ·      Research for marketing, content and development; assist with planning, creative process, and organization of programs and events

    ·      Integration with the Customer Relations Management (CRM) database, including data entry, running reports and queries related to events and event promotions as well as marketing, development, and audience building

    ·      Coordinate, schedule, and execute content for museum’s web site and social media platforms

    ·      Other museum-related duties as assigned

    Desired Qualifications

    ·      Working experience with exhibition preparation and educational programs at a museum highly desired

    ·      Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies or related field (Preferred: Master’s degree or equivalent and strong interest in Asian-American studies or similar topics)

    ·      Demonstrated experience working with Customer Relations Management systems (e.g., NeonCRM, Salesforce)

    ·      Demonstrated education or relevant experience in museum operations, marketing and fundraising

    ·      Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

    ·      Highly organized and detail oriented

    ·      Ability to work independently and enjoy working in a team environment

    ·      Excellent communications skills, both oral and written

    ·      Communicate with discretion, confidentiality, and tact

    ·      Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, with adaptable and superior knowledge of social media platforms

    Working Conditions

    Office environment, standard hours.

    Compensation

    This is a full-time position. Title and salary commensurate with experience.
